Saudi Arabia - Flash floods (ECHO 25 Nov 2022)

Flash floods caused by heavy rainfall were reported across Mecca Province (south-western Saudi Arabia).
According to media reports, as of 25 November, two people died and several individuals were rescued by authorities. Number of houses and road sections have been inundated, causing traffic disruptions, while schools and universities were closed in Jeddah, Rabigh, and Khulais governorates.
According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), 179mm of rain was recorded in Jeddah in the six hours on 24 November, exceeding the amount of rain recorded during the November 2009 flooding.
Moderate to locally heavy rainfall is forecast over Jeddah governorate on 25 November, while drier conditions are expected on 26 November.
